Ukraine appears to be using ‘killer robots’ that identify and attack their targets without any human intervention – the first such instance in global warfare.
The drones are known as lethal autonomous weapons, or LAWs.
A source revealed the move to New Scientist, confirming that Ukraine is using the artificial intelligence-equipped drones to target tanks and other military vehicles.
It is thought the attacks have resulted in the deaths of Russian soldiers without a direct command from Ukrainian military personnel – although no casualties have been confirmed.
